About the Role

The Network Technician / Field Engineer is a hands-on technical role supporting AEGIS clients across South Georgia. You’ll handle installations, troubleshooting, and on-site service for network and security equipment while working directly with senior engineers and project managers. This position offers real field experience and a clear path to senior-level engineering and cybersecurity roles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot network hardware (routers, switches, access points, firewalls)
  • Support structured cabling and rack build-outs for client sites
  • Perform on-site diagnostics and remote assistance for client issues
  • Assist with VLAN setup, DHCP/DNS management, and network segmentation
  • Document work performed and maintain accurate client records
  • Coordinate with project managers on deployments and maintenance windows

Required Skills & Experience

  • 2–4 years of experience in network installation or IT field service
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, and wireless technologies
  • Experience with pfSense, Ubiquiti, Cisco Small Business, or similar systems
  • Basic knowledge of firewalls and security best practices
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Comfortable climbing ladders and working in commercial settings
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Preferred Certifications

  • CompTIA Network+ or Security+
  • Cisco CCNA (or actively pursuing)
  • Any recognized vendor certification (Ubiquiti, Fortinet, etc.)
